State College Friends School Peace Choir
During my Junior Year I accepted the position of Assistant Director of the State College Friends School Peace Choir. I work with music education professor, Ann Clements, and another music education student. Together we rehearse the group of 4-8th graders every Friday afternoon and perform concerts throughout the year. Through this opportunity I am able to choose repertoire, lead warm ups, rehearse, conduct, and supervise events! All in a all a REAL world experience!
Above is a video from the Grandparents Day Concert featuring the Peace Choir! The piece below I not only conducted but also rehearsed with peace choir this semester. I was so proud at this concert because this semester was tough due to all of the music they needed to learn, but everything seemed to really come together!
Jamaica Field Service Project
During this summer I was accepted for a two week study abroad project in Jamaica! I delivered music lessons in Jamaican Folk Songs, Afro-Caribbean Drumming, and Recorder. As well as giving music lessons I was able to explore the island of Jamaica and work one on one with community members and learn first hand about the music and overall culture of Jamaica! Below are pictures from this amazing and life changing expereince!
York County Jewish Community Center
During the Summer I work at the local Jewish Community Center where I work with another college student where we run a classroom of 18-20 children ages 5-6. During the summer I provide music specific lessons as well as exposing the students to art, free play, discovery, math, reading, and movement. Below are pictures from this past summer, enjoy!
